Bale and Ferguson scoop Premier League awards

Tottenham and Manchester United news: Bale and Ferguson named player and manager of the year

Gareth Bale has another award to add to his ever-growing collection - the Tottenham star has now been named the Player of the Season by the Premier League.

Sir Alex Ferguson was also handed the last accolade of his glittering managerial career after he was named Manager of the Season.

Bale scooped his award having already been named the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards, as will as the FWA's main prize.

The Tottenham forward has been in sensational form this season, and has scored 20 league goals to help keep his side in contention for a top-four spot with one game to go.

Ferguson meanwhile earned his award having overseen Manchester United's 13th Premier League title win this season.

Ferguson steps down from the hot seat at Old Trafford following Manchester United's final fixture against West Brom after 26 years in charge on Sunday, with Everton manager David Moyes taking over.

It is the 11th time Ferguson has been handed the award, the last time coming in 2011.

The Premier League awards are voted for by a panel made up of media, fans and various associations within football.
